The Federal Government says a Navy patrol boat has intercepted an Indonesian-flagged fishing vessel off Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory.
The vessel was located on Sunday with dolphin carcasses and shark fins on board.
The Australian Management Authority has recommended the skipper be charged for illegal fishing and the taking and dismembering of dolphins.
Federal Fisheries Minister Ian McDonald says he is concerned illegal foreign fisherman appear to be targeting dolphins, which are a protected species, for use as bait.
It is the second illegal foreign fishing boat apprehended inside Australian waters this year.
