Japan rejects shark, sea horse trade restrictions

Japan has rejected accepting a decision at an international conference that basking shark, whale shark and sea horse should be treated as endangered species put under international trade restrictions, conference sources said Saturday.
In Chile last November, the signatory countries to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, known as the Washington Treaty, decided to impose restrictions in trade of basking shark, whale shark and sea horse.
